STFC players should initially select Spock and increase his level before they switch to Kirk, as he provides better buffs and bonuses.
In this mobile game, Star Trek Fleet Command (STFC), you can build ships, harvest resources, and explore star systems.
Scopely, STFC’s developer, recently introduced the Command Center to the game and players now have to choose between Spock and Kirk as their Fleet Commander.
What is the Command Center?
The Command Center (CC) is a building that players can construct in their Starbase which allows you to assign Fleet Commanders that can be on duty. Keep in mind, however, that the building has a limited number of assigned Fleet Commanders.
If you assign a Fleet Commander to be on duty, players will receive various buffs. Players who are level 15 or higher will receive an in-game mail that contains a gift. The gift is a quest that requires that you build a CC.
Similarly to other buildings, the CC can be upgraded, but you need to acquire Self Sealing Stem Bolts to upgrade it.
STFC: Spock or Kirk
Scopely announced that during the month of January 2023, STFC players can either select Spock or Kirk as their first Fleet Commander. Fleet Commanders provide powerful fleetwide buffs in several areas of the game.
A Fleet Commander will always be stationed at the CC. This means that they cannot be assigned to Ship Crews of Away Missions as this goes against station regulations.
Every Fleet Commander provides unique buffs that will give you an edge when you are fighting other Commanders or hostiles.
Players can either unlock Spock or Kirk as their first Fleet Commander, but is it noteworthy that every Commander has unique buffs and Skill Trees. A Skill Tree allows Fleet Commanders to develop skills and abilities.
Each Commander’s tree is divided into 3 branches. Spock and Kirk’s branches can be described as follows:
Fleet Commander | Branches |
Spock |
|
Kirk |
|
Thus, Kirk is a fantastic option if you are focusing on defeating hostiles, while Spock is more efficient in harvesting resource nodes.
If you are struggling to choose between Spock and Kirk, it is recommended that you choose Spock initially and level him up to unlock his third ability.
Once Spock has unlocked his third ability, players can switch to Kirk, who has abilities that will provide greater benefits in more situations.
How to progress on a Skill Tree
In order to advance in your Fleet Commander’s Skill Tree, you need specific skill points. Every Fleet Commander requires certain skill points, for instance, Spock requires Spock’s skill points, and Kirk needs Kirk’s skill points.
Keep in mind that some skills may require rare skill points. Specific skill points can be procured by levelling up your Fleet Commander or by exchanging uncommon skill points in the CC Refinery.
Players can obtain uncommon skill points by levelling up their Fleet Commander. Rare skill points, on the other hand, can be earned from rare events and the “Offers” tab.
When can players unlock an additional Fleet Commander?
After building your CC, you will get the opportunity to select Kirk or Spock as your first Fleet Commander. Players can only unlock a second Fleet Commander chair if their CC has reached level 40.
This means that it is crucial that you upgrade your CC regularly to increase its level. Players can acquire Self Sealing Stem Bolts from the Daily Gift, which you can find in your CC Refinery. However, you can also claim the resource from the “Offers” tab.
Skill Tree keys
As previously stated, every Fleet Commander has a unique Skill Tree, which is divided into 3 branches. Keep in mind that every branch has a unique key.
STFC players will receive 1 free unique key from the CC Refinery when your Fleet Commander reaches ranks 1,5,9,13, and 18.
Some skills require a Quantum Key and are considered on duty-selectable skills. These skills are only applied when the Fleet Commander is assigned to the CC building in your Starbase.
You should bear in mind that you will have to select 1 skill from a group of skills. Unfortunately, this skill cannot be changed and therefore, you should choose it carefully.
Selectable skills have an identifiable frame around them in the Skill Tree and unlocking them requires a Quantum Key.
