Although players can transfer servers in Diablo Immortal, they cannot transfer their characters to a new server.
Players are invited to uncover the untold story between Diablo II and Diablo III in this game, Diablo Immortal, which is part of the classic Diablo franchise. Unlike its predecessors, this game allows you to explore the nightmarish realm of Sanctuary on a mobile phone.
However, before you can enjoy the game, you have to select a server, create a character, and complete an introductory tutorial quest in order to fully understand the gameplay. When you have completed the tutorial, you can partake in various activities and events, but some will initially be locked.
What is a server?
A game server, also known as a host, is an authoritative source of events in a multiplayer video game. The server transmits data about its internal state to allow its connected clients to maintain their own accurate version of the game world for display to players.
Diablo Immortal has varying types of servers, which are categorised by language and region. There are currently servers for 6 languages, namely, French, German, Italian, English, Spanish, and Polish.
There are also 4 different region servers, namely North America West, North America East, South America Spanish, and South America Portuguese. Furthermore, players can connect to the Oceania and East Asia servers.
Are Diablo Immortal characters server-locked?
It is noteworthy that players can change their servers whenever they wish to do so, and it is a relatively simple process. To change a server, you only need to tap on the name of the server on the main screen to see a complete list of servers you can join.
Then, players can select the server they want to join and enjoy the game as usual. That being said, unfortunately, you will have to start the game from the beginning, as your characters and progress on your former server will not be transferred to your new server.
This means that the characters in Diablo Immortal are bound, or locked, to their original servers. Thus, you can only make progress with a character on the server on which it was created.
Once you have joined a new server, you can create a new character when you start the game from scratch.
Gamers should bear in mind, though, that they will not lose their characters if they use the server transfer. Your characters will remain safe in the same server you left them in.
While players do have the opportunity to switch servers, there is no cross play between servers. In other words, you cannot play with a friend on another server.
So, it is recommended that you and your friends decide on a common server before creating characters and progressing in the game.
That being said, the player-versus-player gaming mode in Diablo Immortal is not server-locked, meaning that you can fight players from other servers.
Which server should players pick?
As previously mentioned, players have the opportunity to select a server before they create a character. It is recommended that you choose a server in your region so that you can benefit from a better connection.
It is also a good idea to coordinate with your friends so that you are all on the same server. If you are not on the same server as your friends, you cannot play the main storyline together. However, you can face each other in the player-versus-player mode, as it is not server locked.
Will players be able to transfer their characters in the future?
At the moment, there seems to be no indication that players will be able to transfer their characters to another server in the future. However, there is a possibility that the game’s developer will introduce this feature, as it has caused several controversies.
Character classes
Diablo Immortal currently has 6 classes for you to choose from. Keep in mind that every class has unique talents and takes on a different role in battle.
