Hogwarts Legacy: Does only Hufflepuff go to Azkaban?

Hogwarts Legacy contains house-specific quests for you to complete and if you are not in Hufflepuff, you cannot visit Azkaban.

In this action role-playing video game, Hogwarts Legacy, you can create and control a character to adventure through a magical universe.

The game is based on the classic Harry Potter novels, and therefore you can encounter similar things in the game as in the novels. One of the features in the game is Azkaban, though several players have wondered if only Hufflepuff can visit it.

What is Azkaban?

If you are unfamiliar with the Harry Potter world, you will probably not know what Azkaban is. Azkaban was a fortress on an island in the middle of the North Sea. It served the magical community of Great Britain as a prison for convicted criminals.

Azkaban was built in the 15th century, and it has been used as a detention facility since 1718. Because of certain charms, Azkaban was hidden from the Muggle world and was Unplottable.

The prison is still in use, and it is home to the most infamous wizards and witches. Furthermore, it is guarded by Dementors who drain people of all happiness and leave them with their worst memories. Long-term exposure usually causes insanity and even death.

Hogwarts Legacy: Does only Hufflepuff go to Azkaban?

When you first start playing Hogwarts Legacy, you will be sorted into one of the following houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Slytherin, and Ravenclaw.

The houses are named after each of the famous founders. It is important to note that every house follows the same storyline, but there are some quests that are limited to certain houses.

There are numerous buildings that you can visit in the game, some of which have limited access and you can only visit them during certain side quests. Azkaban is one of the locations in Hogwarts Legacy that has limited access.

You can only visit Azkaban if you are sorted into the Hufflepuff house. To access the mission that takes you to Azkaban, your character has to at least be on level 5. Once you reach level 5, you have to defend a woman that is on the outskirts of the lake.

After that, you have to speak to the portrait of Eldritch Diggory, former Minister of Magic, to procure the quest. The quest will introduce you to Helen Thistlewood – an ex-auror.

Her descendent wants to reopen a pending case because it led to the unjust imprisonment of a young woman named Anne.

Helen cannot think of anything better than to transport your character to Azkaban to find answers. Once there, you will see its cold stone walls and experience the dementors.

Although you will have learned a few spells at this point in the game, you are yet to learn the spell that gets rid of dementors: Expecto Patronum.

It is therefore recommended that you move around the prison carefully as a dementor can suck the happiness out of your character. The mission is quite short and once it concludes, you can no longer go back to Azkaban.

Can you change your house?

In order to be sorted into a house, you need to answer a few questions. The Sorting Hat will place you in a house based on your answers. Although the hat places you in a house, you can select a house if you have a preference.

It is noteworthy that you cannot change your house after the Sorting Hat ceremony. The only way to change your house is to create an entirely new character.

It is therefore recommended that you carefully select which house you want to be in as this influences your gameplay.

Will you miss out on content if you are not in Hufflepuff?

If you are not in Hufflepuff, you cannot go to Azkaban. However, you will have access to other side quests that are specific to your house. There are numerous quests that you can complete in Hogwarts Legacy.

If you want to experience Azkaban, you can complete the game as your current character before creating another character. However, you have to ensure that you select Hufflepuff as the house for your new character to experience Azkaban.
