Why did Clash of Clans remove Barracks?

Clash of Clans recently removed all players’ additional barracks as they allegedly want to change the system.

Clash of Clans is a popular mobile game in which players can enjoy role-playing elements and combat strategies. The game is set in a fantasy-themed, persistent world in which you take on the role of the chief of a village.

It is up to you to build a village using resources procured from attacking other players’ villages.

There are various buildings that you can construct in your village, but you first have to acquire certain resources. Elixir is used to train new troops, conduct research, and to build and upgrade buildings.

One of the buildings that you could construct was Barracks, but it was removed from the game.

Barracks

The Barracks building allows players to train troops that will be stationed in Army Camps. The building trained at half the normal rate after being upgraded.

Once you have queued your troops in the Barracks, you can complete their training instantly with Gems. However, the number of Gems required is directly proportional to the amount of time remaining to finish training normally.

It is important to remember that you can attack another player’s Barracks, and other players are able to attack your Barracks. However, destroying a Barracks in an attack does not disrupt its production of troops.

Why did Clash of Clans remove Barracks?

Clash of Clans’ developer, Supercell, occasionally introduces new features, activities, and content to the game for players to enjoy. However, they can also remove content from the game.

In September 2022, the developer announced that they will remove additional Barracks and Dark Barracks buildings and only keep one of each.

The highest level building will remain, and in case all the highest level buildings are under construction, players can keep the one with the shortest upgrade time left.

Although the game removed all extra Barracks and Dark Barracks, the troop training time will remain the same with 1 Barracks or Dark Barracks as it is now with 4 Barracks or 2 Dark Barracks. Therefore, players will not lose training time.

Moreover, all product buildings, including Barracks, Dark Barracks, Spell Factory, Dark Spell Factory, and Siege Workshops can keep training units when they are undergoing an upgrade.

Instead of stopping completely, they continue training at 50 percent of their normal speed.

Some players might have missed the announcement, and may thus have been surprised to see that their Barracks and Dark Barracks buildings have disappeared.

Many players have wondered why the developers decided to remove the Barracks from the game. The developer allegedly wanted to introduce changes to the Barrack System, and it was necessary to remove all the Barracks from the game to apply these changes.

Buildings

To store and earn gold and elixir, you have to construct gold mines and gold storages, as well as elixir collectors and elixir storages.

As previously mentioned, elixir is used to train new troops, conduct research, and build and upgrade certain buildings.

Gold is used to construct defensive buildings and to upgrade the town hall. By upgrading your town hall, you will get access to additional buildings and higher levels for existing buildings.

When your town hall reaches level 7, you will unlock dark elixir, which is used to train and upgrade dark elixir troops and heroes. You have to use gold, elixir, and dark elixir to upgrade your Barracks.

Which changes are being made to the Barracks?

At the time of writing this, it is unknown which changes are being made to the Barrack System. However, it is recommended that you keep an eye out for official updates to discover which changes the games developer is planning for the Barrack System.

Allegedly, players will receive 4 new buildings in Clash of Clans, but the type of buildings have yet to be revealed.

Which troops can you unlock in the Barracks?

Every time you upgrade your Barracks, you will unlock a new unit type. Keep in mind that each upgrade requires a specific quantity of elixir. It also requires a specific town hall level.

The following table outlines which units you can unlock, building costs, and town hall level requirements:
