What is a skill tree?
The skill tree, also known as Focus, refers to the unlocking of a Tenno’s true skills and abilities. It is generally guided by the beliefs of the Five Great Tenno Schools. The schools represent different routes of discipline with regards to the Tenno’s fighting styles and personality.
You should remember that each school features their own skill tree comprising 10 different abilities called Ways. This unlocks multiple passive abilities that are able to enhance an Operator’s powers and to a lesser extent, improves your Warframe. Additionally, each school focuses on a specific objective. It is thus recommended that you carefully decide which school you want to be part of.
Warframe: Focus Farming
Focus is an experienced-based resource that is used to unlock abilities for your Operator. As mentioned above, there are 5 different skill trees that are based on the 5 Tenno Schools, which allow you to unlock new skills. In order to fully unlock a tree, you have to obtain a lot of Focus Points.
Focus can be obtained by equipping Focus Lenses on your weapons and Warframes. These lenses allow you to transform some of your earned experience from defeating enemies into Focus Points. You are then able to use the points to unlock new skills, or level up existing skills.
If you want to farm focus, it is recommended that you head to the Elite Sanctuary Onslaught. It is considered as the best place to quickly farm focus due to the high number of enemies. However, if you do not have access to it yet, it is advised that you do high-level Exterminate Missions with a stealth Warframe.
How to activate the focus tree
Once you have completed The Second Dream quest, you will be able to perform Transcendence. It allows you to activate an invulnerable projection of the Tenno Operator, which you can control through basic movement. Even though your Warframe is invulnerable, it is disabled.
As you progress in the game, you will come across a quest called The War Within. Completing it will replace Transcendence with Transference, which enables the Operator to physically join the battle.
It is important to note that you have to unlock both Transcendence and Transference to activate the Focus tree. Once activated, you will be able to take advantage of the passive and active Focus powers.
Types of focus lenses
As mentioned above, you need to equip your Warframes and their weapons with Focus lenses in order to obtain Focus Points. However, you should remember that there are different types of Focus lenses. The following table indicates the different lenses and a description of each:
