PUBG Mobile gamer, BiuBiu has announced that he will be retiring from the competitive scene, after years of being a part of Team Secret.
Team Secret is a European electronic sports organization, originally founded as a Dota 2 team during The International Dota 2 Championship in 2014. Kow Jiunn Jie, known online as BiuBiu, is a popular PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds (PUBG) Mobile player, and was part of the Team Secret crew. He was also the team’s captain for quite some time.
In September 2020, Team Secret announced on its website that BiuBiu had decided to retire, stating, “It is with great pride, mixed with some sadness, that we warmly send off our amazing PUBG Mobile captain, BiuBiu.” Adding, “After winning the Malaysia PUBG Mobile League and cementing Team Secret as the number one team in the country, BiuBiu decided to retire from the PUBG Mobile competitive scene.”
BiuBiu confirmed his exit during a livestream on his Facebook page, stating “I will be stepping down from the competitive scene. It has been a humbling journey and thank you to all the fans who have supported me throughout all the hard times.” Adding, “I have learnt a lot of stuff during my years in the competitive scene, but I will be entering a new phase in my life.”
He also revealed that there is no bad blood between him and Team Secret. He admitted that he wanted to announce his departure himself, as he did not want any theories or any incorrect messages spreading on the internet.
BiuBiu has since continued to share his livestreams on his Facebook page and YouTube channel. He currently has over 400 000 people following his Facebook page, and over 900 000 subscribers on his YouTube channel.
His popular YouTube channel also made him the first Malaysian electronic sports player to win a Malaysian Book of Records award under the Most Views for Single E-Sport Video on YouTube category.
Team Secret bid farewell to BiuBiu with a few warm words, stating, “We will always support Biu as a member of the Secret Family, and we wish him the very best of luck into the future.”
