Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis (PSO2: NGS) is an exciting video game that enables gamers to enjoy role-playing strategy and tactical battles. The game is based on the well-renowned series, Phantasy Star Online, so there are similar features throughout the games in the franchise.
Since NGS was released a decade after its predecessor, you can enjoy updated graphics and gameplay.
Before you explore the fictitious world of Halpha, you must create and customise a character. Players can create multiple characters on 1 account, but there may come a time where you wish to delete one of your characters.
Why do gamers delete their characters?
Similarly to other role-playing titles, NGS allows players to create a specific number of characters. When you create a character, he or she will begin at level 1. It takes time and effort to earn enough experience points to increase the character’s level.
Moreover, you have to craft and acquire gear for your new character, which requires a lot of grinding.
Gamers may decide to delete one of their characters if they do not enjoy its specific class, or if they do not have the time to increase their level and obtain items.
Many players will pick 1 character as their main, and additional characters are called alts. The main character gets played more often than alt characters.
PSO2 NGS: Delete character
There is a possibility that you may want to delete one of your characters in NGS. Before you delete a character from your PSO2: NGS account, you should note that when you delete them, all their items, including resources, gear, in-game currencies, weapons, and other collected items, will be lost.
It is thus advised that you remove and store all their items before deleting the character. Otherwise, you will lose everything that you have for that character.
To delete a character, you have to open the character selection screen, and click on the character that you want to delete. By clicking on the character, a menu will appear.
In the menu, you can start a game or open the settings menu. You have to open the settings tab and select the delete character option.
A new menu will appear on the menu, and you have to confirm that you want to delete the character. Keep in mind that it takes up to 24 hours for a character to be removed from your account.
Once the character has been deleted, you cannot retrieve it. However, you can cancel the process within 24 hours.
However, it is not possible to cancel character deletion during server maintenance downtime, so you should plan your character deletion accordingly.
Once a character is deleted, a Character Creation Permit will not be returned. Please take note that to create a new character after deleting one, you have to repurchase a Character Creation permit using AC, which is NGS’ premium currency.
That being said, a Character Creation Permit is not required if you have created less than 3 characters.
How many characters can you create for free in NGS?
NGS players can create up to 2 characters on their account for free. If you decide to delete one of these characters, you can create a new character in the open slot.
If you wish to create additional characters, you have to purchase additional character slots using AC. Bear in mind that it is not mandatory to purchase additional character slots.
If you want to delete a character for which you purchased an additional slot, you will lose that slot and have to purchase another slot.
It is thus recommended that you carefully consider if you want to delete a character on an additional slot, as you have to pay for another slot.
Unable to delete a character
On a rare occasion, you will be unable to delete a character, as the confirmation button will be greyed out, and players will not be able to select it to confirm the deletion.
If this happens to you, you allegedly have to hold all of the L/R buttons on a controller to confirm the deletion.
If you try this method, and you still cannot delete a character, you should submit a ticket to NGS’ developer, Sega, to solve the issue.
As previously stated, you need AC to purchase an additional character slot. If you are playing on Xbox One, open the main menu of the game and click on the “AC” tab. Here, you can click on “Buy AC” to purchase an AC Exchange Ticket.
After purchasing it, you can open the game before exchanging your ticket for AC.
Steam users can follow the same method, however, you will be purchasing the Exchange Ticket from Steam, instead of the Microsoft store.
