TzTok-Jad is one of the strongest monsters in OSRS as it can easily kill most players in one hit with any of its 3 attacks.

Old School RuneScape (OSRS) is an adventurous video game that combines role-playing elements with tactical battles.

Although the game was released in 2013, it still has an active fanbase and it is still considered one of the best massively multiplayer online games ever created.

There are many enemies and bosses that you can defeat in OSRS, one of which is TzTok-Jad, more commonly known as Jad.

Monsters in OSRS

In OSRS, monster is the official term for an attackable character or being that is not controlled by another player. There are different monsters you can vanquish in OSRS, ranging from a not-so-harmful rat to the extremely powerful Chaos Elemental.

Players generally destroy monsters to train their characters and to receive rare loot. However, some players also defeat monsters for entertainment, as killing monsters is one of the most popular activities in OSRS.

Keep in mind that some monsters are not aggressive, which means that they will not attack you unless you attack them first. Other monsters are very aggressive and they will attack your character as soon as they see you.

Jad is considered one of the strongest monsters in OSRS. This monster is the boss of the TzHaar Fight Cave minigame. Since this boss has a combat level of 702 and  a maximum hit of 97, he can easily kill most players in one hit with any of its 3 attacks.

Jad performs a melee attack with its bite, a blast of magic in the form of a fireball, and a boulder falling from the ceiling as a ranged attack. Players have to fight through waves of monsters in the cave in order to reach Jad.

These waves must be completed solo, and you do not get an opportunity to restock on supplies if you run out.

Therefore, it is advisable that early-game players do not attempt to defeat Jad. Mid-game players can attempt to defeat him, but you may be unsuccessful.

Fighting and vanquishing Jad requires decent skills and reflexes. Although it is possible to perform melee attacks, it is difficult to switch between the Protect from Melee, Protect from Missiles, and Protect from Magic prayers.

Jad only uses ranged and magic attacks at a distance, but since he is resistant to magic attacks, we recommend that you use ranged attacks and weapons to defeat him.

OSRS gamers should note that Jad has a very long attack range, and therefore, you have to find out where the orange Ket-Zek spawned in the previous wave.

As with all other waves where 2 enemies of the same type are encountered, the new monster will appear where the off-coloured monster spawned. By following this technique, you can prepare accordingly to prevent Jad from launching a surprise attack.

Slayer task

You can pay 100 Slayer reward points to have Chaeldar, Duradel, or Nieve assign TzHaar as a possible Slayer task. When you receive the TzHaar Slayer assignment, you will get the option to be assigned 1 TzTok-Jad instead.

This allows you to use your imbued black mask or the slayer’s helm’s damage and accuracy bonuses on all monsters that you encounter in the Fight Cave.

If you accept the challenge, you will receive Slayer experience for each of the monsters that you defeat in the Fight Cave.

How to identify Jad’s attacks

As previously explained, Jad performs 3 unique attacks, and it is imperative that you know which attack he is performing. The table below explains Jad’s attacks:

Attack Description
Ranged Jad rears up on his hind legs before slamming down his front legs onto the ground. This causes a boulder to fall on your character.
Magic The boss rears up on his hind legs and dangles his front legs for a few seconds before launching a fireball from his mouth.
Melee Jad rushes forward with a shard bite. However, he only does this if your character is within melee distance. Unlike Magic and Ranged attacks, the Melee attack is instant.

When you have defeated Jad successfully, there is a chance that you could receive the Tzrek-Jad, which is a baby fire elemental pet. You are twice as likely to receive the pet upon defeating Jad if you are assigned to vanquish the monster on a slayer task.

If you defeat Jad without the slayer task, you have a 1 in 200 chance of receiving the pet.

When you receive the pet, it will automatically try to appear as your follower. However, if you already have a follower active, the pet will be placed in your inventory. If your inventory is full and you have a follower active, you will not get the pet.
