OSRS: Dust Devils

In OSRS, players are able to defeat multiple monsters, including the Dust Devils; however, it is recommended that players wear a face mask while fighting.

Overview

Old School RuneScape (OSRS) is a popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) with adventure elements. It was released in 2013. However, when Old School RuneScape launched, it was originally a 2007 version of RuneScape.

It has since received engine improvements, new content and quality of life updates largely decided by in-game polls. The game features a never-ending world in which players can interact with the environment, and with other players.

Players are able to engage with the non-playable characters (NPCs), objects and entities by left clicking on them. Additionally, players can select an option from the object’s right-click menu.

OSRS allows players to take control of a single character in explore the world. They can gain experience points and level up individual skills, which makes the character more powerful.

It is important to note that the game features a large selection of skills. The skills are divided into three different categories: gathering, combat and artisan. The gathering category consists of mining, fishing and woodcutting.

It allows players to gather in-game resources, while the combat skills aid the player in defeating monsters, or other players. The artisan skills enable players to craft, cook and do smithing. The input mechanics are mainly point-and-click, and the combat is turn-based.

New Features to OSRS

Some features that were not released on RuneScape until after 2007, have since been released to OSRS. Some of the new content include Fossil Island, Great Kourend and The Inferno minigame.

Additionally, new quests such as the Dragon Slayer 2 and Song of the Elves were introduced. Players are also able to defeat new powerful enemies in raids such as Chambers of Xeric.

The game also introduces clans, which means that players can create or join clans to make new friends.

Gaming modes

Players can choose whether or not they want to participate in the Ironman game mode. This mode is where players are completely prohibited from economic interaction with other players. Subsequently, players are forced to be self-sufficient.

In Ironman Mode, players cannot take items that other players have dropped or sold to stores. Additionally, players cannot pickup items dropped by players killed in player-versus-player situations.

It is believed that this is one of the most difficult ways to play the game, as many late-game items can only be collected from high level bosses.

It is important to note that players doing the Ironman Mode can still use the game’s chat feature. However, this mode is often seen as a single player experience due to the necessity of solo exploration or the fictional world for progression.

OSRS features multiple variations of the Ironman Mode. In the Ultimate Ironman Mode, players cannot use the in-game banks, while the Hardcore Ironman Mode turns into a normal Ironman account after dying for the first time.

OSRS: Dust Devils

As mentioned above, players are able to discover the fictional world of OSRS. While exploring, players may come across multiple monsters, including the Dust Devil. It is a Slayer monster that requires level 65 Slayer to kill.

Dust Devil

Dust Devils are situated in the Catacombs of Kourend and the Smoke Dungeon. Dust Devils use clouds of dust, sand and ash to blind and disorient their victims.

It is thus important to note that players should use a face mask or a Slayer helmet while fighting. These monsters cannot be assigned as a Slayer task until starting Desert Treasure.
