The Joker slot in Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds requires a Golden Jubilee Gem, which is one of the rarest gems in the game.
Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds is a popular mobile game that is part of the classic Ni no Kuni franchise, which means that players will experience similar content and mechanics in the game as they will throughout the games in the franchise.
That being said, the game follows the story of a fantasy, virtual reality (VR) game called Soul Diver, which allows players to explore the world of Ni no Kuni.
There are 5 different characters you can enjoy on the same account, but you should bear in mind that every character has unique talents and abilities.
As you advance in the game, you will discover various gear sets and weapons that can alter your gameplay notably. However, you need to imprint Gems to clear mid and endgame content.
What are Gems?
Gems are unique items used to enhance the strength of weapons and armour pieces, as they have unique statistics and buffs. You have to imprint the Gems to your gear sets to activate the buffs and statistics.
Players can increase their Critical Resistance, Health Points, Critical Damage, Accuracy, Evasion, and Defence by imprinting a Gem. It is advised that you first focus on filling up the Gem slots of your weapons, though, as this greatly benefits your progression.
It is noteworthy that the Gems tab, which falls under Equipment, can only be unlocked once you have reached level 40 in the game.
Ni no Kuni Cross Worlds: Joker Slot
Every weapon and armour piece in Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds has 3 Gem slots, which can be viewed by opening your inventory and clicking on either a weapon or an armour piece. There are generally 3 vacant slots under the Equipped Gems section.
Bear in mind that these slots are all locked when you obtain your first weapon. This means that you first have to unlock their Gem slots before you can imprint any Gems. The slots unlock in chronological order as you advance in the game.
The table below highlights the requirements for unlocking the Gem slots, which are:
Slot number | Requirement |
1 | Item should be 4-stars |
2 | Item should be 5-stars |
3 | Item should be 6-stars |
Once you unlock a Gem slot, you will notice that each slot has a unique shape, and one of these is the Golden Jubilee shape. To imprint a Gem on an item, you need to match the Gem’s shape with the shape of the Gem slot on the item.
However, this principle does not apply to the Joker slot, which requires a Golden Jubilee Gem. This means that you have to acquire a Golden Jubilee Gem to imprint the weapon, or armour piece’s Joker slot.
Apparently, not all items have a Joker slot, which can make farming much easier as these Gems are quite rare.
Moreover, the Joker slot is generally the last slot to unlock, so players have to upgrade their armour or weapon to 6-stars before they can imprint a Gem.
How to imprint a Gem
Once you have acquired the necessary Gems, you can open the main menu and click on “Gems” to begin the imprinting process. You can then select your desired weapon, which will show you which Gems are available for that specific weapon.
If players imprint a Gem onto a weapon, but later acquire a stronger Gem, they can remove the existing Gem using the Extraction Tool, which they first have to purchase from the in-game shop for approximately 10 000 gold.
How to increase the star rating on your weapons and armour pieces
As previously mentioned, the Gem slots unlock once the weapons or armour pieces have reached the required star rating. As such, players have to increase the star rating of their weapons and armour pieces to unlock a Gem slot.
You can increase the star level of your items using the Boosting process, which means you can boost a 3-star, level 30 piece of equipment to 4-stars, but this will reset the level of the equipment back to level 1.
Hence, players should level up their equipment to level 30 before they can increase the star level of the item. This cycle continues until the equipment has reached level 30, 6-stars.
Where to acquire Gems
The best place to farm Gems is in the Chaos Fields and Ancient Ruins. In the Ruins, players can click on the map and then click on the wolf icon in the window that opens. This will show you a list of the enemies present in that area.
When you click on an enemy, all of the items that the enemy can drop once its killed pop up. Using this to your advantage, you can find out which enemies you need to kill to acquire certain Gems.
While inside the Chaos Fields, players should endeavour to get cornered by enemies, and then cast a big area-of-effect attack. This will allow you to farm Gems much more efficiently.
