Cookie Clicker: How to obtain Sugar Lumps
As mentioned above, there are various currencies in Cookie Clicker. Sugar Lumps are a secondary in-game currency and are unlocked when you have baked at least 1 billion cookies. When you unlock the currency, you will get a notification.
It reveals all the details about the currency, and your first Sugar Lump will start to grow. Please remember that your Sugar Lumps, and the building levels purchased with them, are permanent. This means that it will carry over across ascensions.
You can harvest a Sugar Lump by clicking on it when it is ripe. However, if you forget to harvest it, the ripe lump will fall and be harvested automatically. This principle also applies when the game is closed.
Please note that Sugar Lumps and their bonuses are disabled when you start an ascension in Challenge Mode. That being said, they will still be auto harvested behind the scenes.

What can Sugar Lumps be used for?
You should remember that Sugar Lumps are primarily used to level up buildings. Every time a building is levelled up, it will receive a permanent 1 percent boost in cookie production. However, the price to level it up will increase by one Sugar Lump.
What buildings are in Cookie Clicker?
It is important to note that there are various buildings that you can purchase in Cookie Clicker. The buildings include, but are not limited to cursors, mines, factories, temples, the wizard tower and a time machine among others. Please note that the buildings cost a specific amount of Cookies before you can purchase them.
Subsequently, you might have to play the game for quite a long time before you can purchase some of the expensive buildings. Luckily, the buildings have the ability to produce cookies. This means that you do not have to only click the big cookie to obtain cookies.
