You can obtain neutral units in LOTR: Rise to War by defeating both armies of a neutral camp, which can be found at any location on your map.
Overview
Lord of the Rings (LOTR): Rise to War is an exhilarating and interactive game that allows players to step into the fantasy world of Mordor to experience strategy and role-playing elements.
It is based on the classic book and film trilogy, Lord of the Rings. You can thus expect to see similar content, battles, characters, and storylines in this mobile game.
It currently features more than 10 distinct factions for you to choose from. Keep in mind that certain factions are considered evil, while others are good. This greatly impacts the type of units you will find in your faction, as well as your Commanders.
What are the different types of units?
It is worth noting that all evil factions have access to all evil units, while all good factions have access to all good units. This means that you can build an Elven army even if you are part of a Dwarven faction.
The following table indicates some of the units you can find in the game and a description of each:
Unit | Description |
Dwarves |
They are generally the tanks in battle, as they are quite slow but very powerful. They are very tough and can kill other melee fighters. |
Elves |
Elves are able to deal a lot of damage as their melee infantry has some of the highest damage per second in the game. |
Men (Numenorian) |
Numenorians are focused on defence, but they have heavily armoured cavalry and shield-toting spearmen. |
Orcs |
They are at the top of the food chain of most evil armies. Orcs are seen as generalists, and they have access to trolls. |
Uruk-Hai |
These units are basically bigger and stronger orcs. They prefer fighting up close and personal. |
How to hire neutral units in LOTR: Rise to War
As mentioned above, members who form part of good factions have access to all the good units, while evil players can use all the evil units.
Players should note that there are some units in the game that do not form part of the good and evil principle, and they are called neutral units. This means that both good and evil factions can acquire them.
You first have to find a neutral camp before you can obtain a neutral unit. You can do this by selecting the magnifying icon which is located at the top left corner of the main screen.
In the menu, you can click on the icon that looks like a tent, which indicates the neutral camps. You will then be able to select any of the neutral units available to you.
Once you have selected a unit, you can select the search option to find a camp. You have to fight these units in order to obtain them. T
he neutral camps usually have 2 armies, and you have to defeat both. The second army will spawn once the first has been defeated. You will obtain the neutral units once you have successfully defeated both armies.
Types of neutral units
Similarly to faction-based units, there are numerous neutral units that you can obtain. The table below indicates some of the neutral units in the game and a description of each:
Unit | Description |
Keepers |
They are Elven units with the potential to deal focus damage. Keepers work well against enemies with only one troop composition. |
Eagles |
These gigantic warbirds have a command count of 5. Keep in mind that they have a very high defence bonus against melee attack, but they have a disadvantage against ranged units. |
Ents |
They are tree-like units that are able to deal a decent amount of damage. If you use them in your army, it is advised that you steer clear of enemies that use Arson. |
Are neutral units mandatory?
Neutral units are very unique, however, they would not be forming the backbone of your army. Many players choose not to obtain these units, as many of them are on the weaker side. This indicates that it is not mandatory to have neutral units in your army.
It is entirely your choice whether or not you want them. Keep in mind that you have to train them in special structures if you do decide to include them in your army. This means that you will have to spend some gold on the neutral units to improve them.
Can you lose your neutral units?
Seeing that neutral units are available to everyone on the server you are playing on, you could lose ownership of your neutral units.
However, this can only happen when other players successfully defeat both armies of the neutral units. You will have to defeat and obtain other neutral units when you lose ownership of your units.
