Hearthstone: Anachronos

Anachronos is a new card that Hearthstone players can collect in Hearthstone, however, you can only procure it if you have the March of the Lich King expansion.

In this free-to-play game, Hearthstone, you can enjoy turn-based battles, in which you and your opponent have to use a constructed deck of 30 cards to defeat each other. You will also have a selected hero with a unique power that you can use to destroy your opponent.

Hearthstone is built upon the existing lore of the Warcraft series, therefore, it will have similar elements, characters and relics in all of the games.

The game’s developer, Blizzard, occasionally adds new content to the game. It recently announced an expansion, March of the Lich King, which adds new cards to Hearthstone. One of the cards that you will be able to collect in the new expansion is Anachronos.

March of the Lich King

March of the Lich King is themed around the World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King expansion, which was released in 2008.

Even though the Lich King has been around for ages, he returns to Hearthstone to lead his Undead army and the new Death Knight class in an all-out assault on the elven city of Silvermoon.

However, the Blood Elves are as thirsty for combat as they are for the magic of the Sunwell from which they draw power.

While Corpses pile up, the Death Knight’s army expands, and so begins the March of the Lich King.

Hearthstone: Anachronos

The March of the Lich King expansion introduces  new content to Hearthstone, including a new class, cards, and minions, among other things. One of the latest minions introduced to Hearthstone is the bronze Dragon, Anachronos.

Anachronos is a seven-cost 8/8 Dragon-type Paladin minion with a particularly unique ability. His battlecry sends all other minions 2 turns into the future.

This is the first time that an ability like this has made its way into Hearthstone, and there is no better way to introduce it than through the bronze dragonflight.

Hearthstone players who also play World of Warcraft are likely familiar with the bronze dragonflight through the likes of Nozdormu.

If you watched any of the trailers for the upcoming World of Warcraft: Dragonflight expansion, then you have seen Nozdormu lead the adolescent Dracthyr Evoker through time to discover their past.

Anachronos is the son of Nozdormu, which makes him the heir to the seat of leadership in the bronze dragonflight. According to WoW lore, the bronze dragons use time to their will, so Anachronos’ ability is perfectly suitable.

Anachronos’ card description states: “That’s it, you’re all in time out,” which corresponds to his ability. This Legendary card costs 1600/3200 (Golden) to craft, and its disenchanting yields 400/1600 (golden).

Similarly to other cards, Anachronos has several statistics, which are outlined in the following table:

Statistic Quantity
Health 8
Attack 8
Mana Cost 7

When can players obtain Anachronos?

Blizzard announced on 1 November 2022 that the March of the Lich King expansion is set for release on 6 December 2022. This means that you can only  acquire and play with Anachronos once the expansion is released.

Moreover, you will not be able to get Anachronos if you did not purchase the March of the Lich King expansion. Although Hearthstone is a free-to-play game, players have to purchase the expansion packs to unlock additional content, which includes new cards and minions.

How to purchase the March of the Lich King expansion

If you are interested in acquiring Anachronos, you have to purchase the March of the Lich King expansion. Fortunately, it is open for pre-purchase, which means that you will have instant access to the expansion’s content, and additional items, once it launches.

To pre-purchase, players can go to the official Blizzard website, and select the “March of the Lich King pre-purchase” tab.

After logging in with your Battle.net account, you can either purchase the March of the Lich King Mega Bundle for $79.99, or the March of the Lich King Bundle for $49.99.

Death Knight

In addition to Anachronos, players can enjoy a new class called Death Knights. They command the undead with their new hero power, Ghoul Charge. For 2 mana, you can summon a 1/1 Ghoul with Charge that dies at the end of your turn.

The Ghoul does double duty, as the Death Knights gain a corpse whenever a friendly minion dies. They can then use those Corpses to power-up their cards.

The Death Knight class is extremely powerful and flexible, as it is powered by 3 Runes, namely Unholy, Blood, and Frost. The devotion to these Runes determines which cards the Death Knight can put in their deck.
