Fishers in FFXIV can use Versatile Lures to increase their fishing skill, but gamers should bear in mind that this tackle does not catch Green fish.
In this adventurous role-playing game, Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) you can explore the persistent world of Eorzea.
As is suggested the game’s name, it is part of the well-renowned video game series, Final Fantasy, and therefore, you will likely encounter similar mechanics and gameplay in the franchise.
Unlike its predecessors, FFXIV is a massively multiplayer online game, which means that you can enjoy its content with other players across the world.
There are numerous activities that you can enjoy in FFXIV, but it is advisable that you focus on the main story quests. One of the skills that you can learn is fishing, however, you will require lures for this, such as the Versatile Lure.
Fishing in FFXIV
Fisher is a Disciple of the Land whose main objective is to harvest fish and other sea creatures from the waters of Eorzea. When you reach higher levels, you can attempt to catch fish in the volcanos and clouds.
The materials that you gather are primarily used by Alchemists and Culinarians. Players with at least one level 10 Disciple of War or Disciple of Magic are eligible to become a Fisher.
To become a Fisher, you have to go to the Fisher’s Guild, which is in Limsa Lominsa and speak to the receptionist to start your quest.
FFXIV: Versatile Lures
Players should also remember that Fishers utilise fishing rods as their primary tool and the Spearfishing Gig as their secondary tool. These tools are crafted by Carpenters. When you start out as a Fischer, you should ensure you have the correct tools to be successful.
In addition to the tools, you need fishing tackles to attract the fish in the fishing location. There are more than 20 different tackles that you can acquire, but keep in mind that in some cases, specific tackles are used to catch specific fish, while for others, a common tackle can be used.
One of the tackles that you can use is the Versatile Lure, which was specifically developed by the Fisherman’s Guild for novice anglers. This tackle can be used on land or at sea.
Players can purchase this tackle when their fishing skill is level 1, but not all vendors sell the lure. To purchase the Versatile Lure, you can talk to the Merchant and Mender located in the Lower Decks of Limsa Lominsa.
Alternatively, you can speak to the Merchant and Mender in Ocean Fishing. Although there are 2 merchants that sell the Versatile Lure, the price remains the same. Players will pay approximately 300 Gill for the item.
If you equip the Versatile Lure, you can catch anything except Big Fish, which is otherwise referred to as Green Fish, up to but excluding the current level cap.
The objective of the Versatile Lure is to make levelling the fishing skill easier. Players can use the same bait from level 1 until level 80, instead of trying to keep track of 45 different baits.
How to use the Versatile Lure
In order to catch a fish with Versatile Lure, you have to go to a fishing spit. Once you arrive, you must use the bait action to prepare your bait and tackle.
It is recommended that you use the Versatile Lure to catch your fish. After selecting the tackle, you can use the cast action to start fishing.
After a while, fish will approach your bait and exclamation marks will pop up above your character’s head when you get a bite. You then have to use the hook action at the right time to reel in your catch.
Completing a quest to earn Versatile Lure
One of the quests that you have to complete in the Fishers line is All the Fish in the Sea. The quest’s official description reveals that Fhilsnoe has news that should interest any self-respecting fisherman, no matter how seasoned.
Fhilsnoe informs players about a new vessel that was constructed by the Fisherman’s Guild, reportedly equipped for long voyages into the open sea. If you wish to know more about the ship, you have to complete the quests.
Once the quest is completed, you will be rewarded with 10 Versatile Lures, and you will gain access to FFXIV Ocean Fishing.
How to level up your fishing skill quickly
The best way to level up your fishing skill is by participating in Ocean Fishing. FFXIV players can hop up to the Endeavor to go on an epic fishing adventure. Bear in mind though that this activity only takes place every 2 hours.
The ship stops at many locations and at every location, you are given 7 minutes to fish. Players can find a vendor on the boat that sells lures and tackles to help you catch more fish.
