Before patch 5.3 of FFXIV, players could obtain weapons using Military-grade Tomestones, but this currency was removed from the game.
In this adventurous role-playing video game, Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV), players can explore the vast open world of Eorzea.
As the game’s name suggests, it is part of the classic Final Fantasy series, and thus, you are likely to experience similar gameplay and mechanics throughout the franchise.
Unlike its predecessors, FFXIV is a massively multiplayer online game, which means that you can enjoy its content with other gamers.
The game has a variety of activities you can enjoy, such as completing quests, participating in raids, increasing skill lines and collecting an array of gear sets.
While advancing in the game, you will come across varying currencies, each of which serves a specific purpose. One of the currencies that players could obtain was Military-grade Tomestones, however, they were retired.
Currencies
FFXIV has an array of currencies that can be earned from a variety of content in the game. It is basically the money supply that is used to purchase items or services. Gamers should bear in mind that some currencies can be exchanged to get weapons and gear pieces.
The most common currency in FFXIV is Gil, which you can earn by completing quests, Fates duties, and other activities. It can also be used to purchase items from shops and from the market board.
In addition to Gil, players can find Company Seals, Manderville Gold Saucer Points, and Ventures while they advance in the game.
FFXIV: Military-grade Tomestone
One of the currencies players were able to collect before the patch 5.3 Military-grade Tomestone. The exacting specifications to which the Tomestones were made, along with its half-deciphered contents, have led Ironworks engineers to believe that it was manufactured to be used by the Allagan armed forces.
It is essential to note that it is not as highly sought after as it once was, and it may no longer be exchanged for other wares. This is because the Military-grade Tomestones were removed from FFXIV in patch 5.3, which means that it is no longer available to be used by players.
The currency was removed from the game in a streamlining process to reduce inventory clutter. The Military-grade Tombstones were used to purchase Scaevan Magitek Weapons at Eschina.
Before patch 5.3, players had to collect this currency, and Rowena’s Token (Genesis) before they could acquire one of the Scaeva Magitek Weapons.
Rowena’s Token (Genesis) in-game description states: a note of promise received from Rowena for the Delivery of Allagan Tomestone of genesis or poetics. However, because the House of Splendors changed its policies, it is worth less than the paper on which it is scribed.
Similarly to the Military-grade Tomestone, Rowena’s Token was removed from the game in patch 5.3. That being said, the weapons you could collect with these currencies were also removed from the game.
Can players still purchase the Scaevan Magitek Weapons?
Although the currencies necessary to obtain a Scaevan Magitek weapon were removed in patch 5.3, players can still purchase them from Eschina, who can be found in Rhalgr’s Reach.
It is worth noting that this vendor only becomes available when you have completed the Stormblood quests.
You should bear in mind that these weapons can now be exchanged for Allagan Tomestone of Poetics. It is alleged that Poetics will not be removed, and that it has become the catch-all currency for past expansions instead.
The Scaevan Magitek Weapons cost approximately 600 tokens each, but it is crucial to keep in mind that you have to be at least level 70 to use the weapon.
Which Scaevan items can you acquire?
Once you have acquired enough Allagan Tomestone of Poetics tokens, you can go to Eschina to procure a gear piece or weapon or players can get unique types of Scaevan weapons and gear, as listed below:
Item | Type |
Katzbalger | Sword |
Tonfa | Fist Weapon |
Blunderbuss | Firearms |
Chakrams | Throwing Weapons |
Grimoire | Book |
Allagan Tomestone of Poetics
Allagan Tomestones of Poetics are a type of Allagan Tomestone that were introduced in patch 2.4. Players can obtain this currency by completing level 50, 60, 70, or 80 trials, raids, or dungeons. That being said, the currency does not drop if you are below level 50.
Alternatively, you can earn Allagan Tomestones of Poetics as a reward for completing lines of Wondrous Tails. It is crucial to note that players can only carry a maximum number of 2000 Allagan Tomestones of Poetics.
You can speak with Aurinana in Mor Dhona to exchange your tokens. FFXIV players can get crafting reagents, Minions, augmented equipment sets, and Orchestrion Rolls.
