FFXIV: Faux Hollows

In FFXIV, Faux Hollows is a weekly task you can complete to earn rewards, but you first have to complete the Unreal Trial.

Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) is a well-renowned video game that invites gamers to experience fictional role-playing elements. You can explore the persistent world of Eorzea, in which you can interact with the environment and with other players.

The game takes place 5 years after the primal dragon, Bahamut escaped from its lunar prison to initiate the Seventh Umbral Calamity.

This apocalyptic event destroys much of Eorzea, however, through the god’s blessing, you escaped by time travelling into the future.

While rebuilding the lands, you can participate in several activities and occasional events, including daily and weekly tasks. One of the weekly tasks you can complete is Faux Hollows.

Weekly and Daily tasks

Daily tasks require that you complete small objectives daily to earn rewards, whereas you have an entire week to complete the weekly tasks, as they are generally very time-consuming. Some of the daily and weekly tasks you can complete in FFXIV are as follows:

Category Task Reward
Daily The Hunt ·   Allied Seals

·   Centurio Seals

·   Sack of Nuts

Daily Tribe Quests ·   Reputation

·   Experience points

·   Gill

Daily Duty Roulette ·   Experience points

·   Tomestones

·   Gil

Weekly Raids ·   Gear

·   Tokens

Weekly Fashion Report ·   Manderville Gold Saucer Points (MGP)
Weekly Custom Deliveries ·   White and Purple Scripts

FFXIV: Faux Hollows

There is an array of weekly and daily tasks you can complete to earn rewards, but you should note that you first have to unlock them. Because Faux Hollows is an endgame task, there are a few prerequisites you need to meet before you can gain access to it.

Firstly, you have to at least be on level 80 with any Disciple of Magic or War and have the MSQ Shadowbringers completed. You also have to complete the Keeping Up with the Aliapohs quest.

When you meet these requirements, you can travel to Idyllshire to speak to the Painfully Ishgardian Man. He will give you the level 80 quest, Fantastic Mr. Faux.

In order to complete this quest, you have to speak to the Faux Commander, who will give you access to the Faux Hollows. While you need to be on level 80 to gain access to the Faux Hollows, you have to be on at least level 90 to participate in it.

That is because it is the synced level of the Unreal Trial, which you have to complete before you can complete the Faux Hollows task. Every week, after completing the current Unreal Trial, you can interact with the Faux Commander in Idyllshire to try your chance at the Faux Hollows Board.

The board consists of 36 tiles that may contain illustrations hidden beneath them. The goal of the activity is to fill over 11 tiles in an attempt to recreate any of the 3 images presented on the right side of the board.

Illustrations

Gamers should bear in mind that some of the illustrations may not even be presented on the board, which makes the activity quite challenging. The table below lists the possible illustrations that you can find on the Faux Hollow board:

Illustration type Chances of spawning Rewards
Small Very rare ·   100 Faux Leaves
Medium 1 of the medium illustrations will always be on the board ·   Either 20 or 10 Faux Leaves, as it depends on which illustration is on the board
Large You will always find a large illustration on the board. ·   5 Faux Leaves

·   Retelling

Faux Leaves

For every illustration you discover, you will be rewarded with Faux Leaves, which is one of the in–game currencies. However, these leaves can only be exchanged at the Faux Commander for various items, some of which are listed in the table below:

Item Cost
Tamamo Headband 250 Faux Leaves
Lesser Panda 150 Faux Leaves
Anteater 400 Faux Leaves
Incitatus Whistle 600 Faux Leaves
Spotted Attire Coffer 300 Faux Leaves

Retelling

Even though the Large Illustration offers you the smallest number of Faux Leaves, it does reward you with a Retelling. This item allows you to complete the current Unreal Trial once more and to try your hand at the Faux Hollow Board one more time before the weekly reset.

It is thus recommended that you aim to discover the Large Illustration, as you can potentially use your additional tile flips to discover a Medium or Small Illustration and earn more Faux Leaves.
