Evony: Generals 2023

There are several Generals to collect in Evony in 2023, some of which are considered better and more efficient than others.

Evony: The King’s Return is an exhilarating mobile game in which you can build an empire from scratch.

As the lord or lady of your keep, you have to complete quests, vanquish enemies, explore ruins and train troops. To assist you with these tasks, you can recruit Generals.

Why do you need Generals?

Although Generals may seem somewhat insignificant to some in Evony, they are essential in the game. This is because you use Generals in everything you do, such as researching, building, crafting, and fighting.

Keep in mind that certain Generals specialise in specific tasks. For instance, you should use Yodo dono when you are planning a ranged battle, but not when you are gathering resources.

A General’s specialisation is determined by his or her skills and attributes. Every General in Evony has a unique set of skills, which indicates the activity for which you should use them.

Evony: Generals 2023

There are currently more than 30 Generals for you to acquire in Evony, each of which is categorised in a specific rarity. There are 8 different rarity types for Generals, and you can identify a General’s rarity by the colour of the border around their picture.

A green border signifies a common General, and a purple border indicates an uncommon General. Generals with a blue or purple border are rare and legendary, respectively, and a gold border implies that it is an epic General.

Moreover, Generals are also categorised according to their roles. You can acquire these Generals in Evony:

It is important to note that you have to procure a General in order to use them. There are several ways to collect a General. The Tavern allows you to recruit a General of your choice for gold, or you can win a General by trying your luck in the Wheel.

Furthermore, you can collect General tokens from Relics and open a Great General Chest in the Tavern to obtain General Tokens.

These are all free methods of acquiring additional Generals, but you can also use real money to purchase a General from the in-game shop.

Allegedly, the Generals that you can purchase with real money are considered better and stronger than the Generals that you get for free. That being said, though, it is not mandatory to purchase a General with real money.

Generals over the years

Several Generals were added to Evony in the last few years. Some of the Generals introduced to the game are as follows:

2023 2022 2021
  • Charles Martel
  • John I of Portugal
  • Kusunoki Masashige
  • Richard the Lionheart
  • Alexander the Great
  • Duke of Marlborough
  • Mason Weaver
  • Edward III
  • Hammurabi
  • Maeda Toshiie
  • Prince Eugene
  • Harald III
  • Thutmose III
  • Elise
  • Nordic Barbarian King
  • Darius I
  • Leo III

Although Evony gets regular updates, the older Generals and their skills, remain the same. Therefore, the recently-released Generals are regarded as better than Generals who were introduced a few years ago.

Levelling up a General

Once you have a General, you have to increase his or her level to improve their statistics. The amount by which it increases is equal to the stats growth rate, and the growth rate can be further increased by enhancing your General.

Generals can be levelled up to the same level as your monarch level. This means that if your monarch level is 15, your Generals can only be levelled up to level 15.

There are several ways to level up your Generals, such as killing enemy troops and destroying monsters on the world map.

Furthermore, you can attack subordinate cities and use General experience items to increase their level.

What is cultivating?

The term “cultivating” describes the process of using gold and gems to increase a General’s statistics with a bonus amount.

Every statistic can be increased by an additional 500 points through cultivation. You can use gold to increase the statistics by 300 points.

However, once they are over 300, gold will no longer work. You then have to use gems to increase the statistics by 500. This is a very expensive process, though, since gems are a rare currency in Evony.

Enhancing Generals

Once your General reaches a certain level, you can start the enhancing process, which increases the General’s star level. The requirements and the price for the enhancing process are outlined below.

General level Star level Gold required Medals required
5 1 1 million 40
10 2 2 million 120
14 3 4 million 300
18 4 8 million 800
22 5 15 million 2000

Increasing a General’s star level improves the General’s overall performance. This means that the General will perform their specialised activities better than before.

However, this is quite a long process since you need to farm Medals to complete the enhancing process.

Generals’ skill books

As you progress in Evony, you may collect Gold Historic Generals, which are based on real-life heroes. These Generals can unlock 3 additional skills using Skill Books.

Players can acquire Skill Books from the Wheel of Fortune, and you can also purchase Skill Books from the Academy Building in your empire.

Furthermore, you can craft skill books when you have collected enough skill book pages. Skill books are difficult to obtain, especially at their max level of 4.

Every time you add a new skill, there is a chance that it will overwrite a Skill Book that you added previously.

The ideal way to add them is by applying all 3 skills that you want in their level 1 form. Thereafter, you can add a level 4 Skill Book of the same type, which is guaranteed to overwrite the level 1 version of itself.
