Players should consider their dominant troops in Evony: The King’s Return before selecting the best defense General, as they have different statistics.
Evony: The King’s Return is an adventurous and imaginative mobile game that invites players to take on the position of a lord or a lady.
As the name of the game suggests, it is based on the classic video game, Evony. It is now your responsibility to build an empire from the ground up during the medieval times.
The game features a variety of activities and events that you can enjoy. That being said, you first have to acquire some Generals. It is noteworthy that some activities will initially be locked, however, you can gain access to them as you advance in the game.
What is a General?
Generals are your empire’s leaders, as they are in control of your troops and their marches. This means that every time you send your troop to gather resources or attack enemies, a General will accompany them.
However, a General can also be assigned as the Mayor of a Subordinate City, in which case they would not travel with troops.
Most of the Generals in the game can be recruited in the Tavern, which can be found in your city. Players should note that all Generals are divided into different categories, as determined by their rarity. Furthermore, they are divided into Historic and Non-Historic Generals.
Historic Generals are based on real world historical leaders from different cultures and countries, including Europe, Korea, and Japan, amongst others.
Evony: Best defense General
There are different types of Generals in the game, and this is because some Generals are better at attacking enemies, while others perform better in defending the keep.
The best defense General for your keep highly depends on your dominant troop type. If you have ranged troops, then you should use a General that has the best-ranged statistics in defense. The following table outlines the best defense General for every troop type:

It is worth noting that the free Generals are available in the Tavern at all times. However, players can purchase an in-game pack to obtain a Premium General. These packs can only be purchased with real-life money.
Once your Tavern has reached level 17, you will be able to purchase Generals with Gold, which is an in-game currency. Some of the good Generals can cost anywhere between 20 million and 42 million Gold.
Allegedly, the higher your Tavern level is, the more often these Generals will appear. Players can reset the Tavern line-up for 50 Gems, which will change the available Generals.
All the Generals in the game have different statistics, which impacts certain aspects of your gameplay. The statistics determine how good or bad the General is.
The best Generals usually have the highest statistics, while the others have average or lower statistics.
The following table lists the different statistics, and what they influence:
|It increases the troop death-to-wounded and gathering speed
|It affects the number of attacks your troop can take before being defeated
|It increases the amount of damage your troops deal through attacks
|It improves your troop’s health points and march speed
