Buffs in Raid: Shadow Legends have the ability to improve your allies’ statistics and skills, however, the buffs will not stack on top of each other.
Overview
Raid: Shadow Legends is an adventurous video game that allows players to explore the fantasy world of Teleria. Regrettably, Teleria has been colonised by Siroth, a mighty Dark Lord.
The destiny of the world now lies in your hands, and it is your responsibility to defeat him. You can collect and play with more than 30 different Champions, each of which have many skills and abilities.
Moreover, certain heroes have the ability to apply buffs, debuffs and instant effects on allies or enemies. Some Champions perform better early in the game, while others are more suitable for endgame content.
What are buffs, debuffs and instant effects?
Champions and bosses can apply a number of buffs, instant effects and debuffs to others which will impact your Champion’s ability to perform their role. Each of these have a different effect on your overall gameplay.
The following table indicates all the effects and their impact:
Effect | Impact |
Instants |
You can instantly activate these effects on your allies or enemies, they include healing or buff removal. |
Debuffs |
You can place these effects on your enemies to reduce their abilities. Moreover, it causes the enemies to take more damage. |
Buffs |
You can apply buffs to your allies to improve their abilities and skills. It can also improve the damage they deal. |
Do attack buffs stack in Raid: Shadow Legends?
Buffs refer to an effect which can increase your allies’ abilities and skills. Buff stacking indicates that players are applying several buffs on top of each other. This will have a great effect on your allies, as it will increase their statistics and attacks significantly.
Unfortunately, the same type of Champion buffs do not stack. This is because the new buff overrides the previous buff.
It is worth noting that higher tier buffs, such as increased defence of 60 percent over 30 percent, have a higher priority. This means that it will replace the same buff in a lower tier buff if it is cast on the same target.
You should thus always aim to use the Champion’s strongest buff while on the battlefield. You should also consider how each Champion’s buffs will interact with each other, as some might cancel each other out if they have similar effects.
Types of buffs
There are many different types of buffs you can experience in the game. The following table indicates some of the buffs and their descriptions:
Buff | Description |
Block Damage |
It depends on the Champion being used for block damage. Either the Champion casting the ability becomes immune to all forms of damage, or the team on the field becomes immune for the set number of turns. |
Increase attack |
It increases the Champions’ battle attack, or current attack value by a certain percentage. Certain Champions enable this across all your Champions on the field. |
Shield |
The Champion’s health points are reinforced with a shield effect. The damage is calculated normally, but it is applied to the shield first, rather than the Champion’s health bar. |
How to obtain buffs
Players should remember that buffs form part of your Champion’s skills. This means that when you activate, or cast a specific skill, it will automatically apply the buff to your allies.
It is thus helpful to know and understand how your Champion’s skills function so that you do not override buffs. You can find a description of your Champion’s skills and buffs by viewing their profile in the game.
Debuffs
Similar to buffs, debuffs do not stack. Moreover, there are different types of debuffs which your Champions can apply to your enemies. The following table indicates some of the debuffs and a description of each:
Debuff | Description |
Block Passive Skills |
Prevents the Champion from using their passive skills. The Champion can thus only use their default of active skills for the duration of the debuff. |
Decrease speed |
When it is applied, it reduces the Champion’s battle speed by a specific measure. |
Leech |
Any Champion that attacks the Champion with this debuff, heals for 18 percent of the damage. |
Heal reduction |
Any healing received by the Champion with this debuff is reduced by a specific measure. |
