Blizzard recently announced Diablo Immortal season 9 and with it comes a new battle pass, which consists of 3 routes: 1 free route for all players, and 2 premium routes.
Gamers are invited to explore the fictitious realm of Sanctuary like never before in this mobile game, Diablo Immortal. As its name implies, it is part of the classic Diablo franchise, so you are likely to experience similarities throughout the series.
Blizzard, Diablo Immortal’s developer, recently announced that players can unlock Season 9’s battle pass.
What is a season?
A season is a feature of Diablo Immortal which is linked to the game’s battle pass feature. At the time of writing this, 9 seasons have been released for Diablo Immortal, each of which introduces new features and aspects to the game.
When a new season has launched, players can collect limited-time items, cosmetics, and gear pieces.
Once the season has concluded, you allegedly cannot acquire those items anymore. If you are interested in limited-time items, you should get them before the season concludes.
Fortunately, a season is active for nearly a month, which gives you enough time to collect the items.
Diablo Immortal: Season 9 battle pass
On Friday, 13 January 2023, Blizzard announced new and upcoming features for Diablo Immortal. They also announced the release of season 9, called Wicked Wanderer.
The official statement reads, “We traveled for an eternity across that arid wasteland. How long, I couldn’t say. And always, a dark cloud seemed to follow us just over the horizon.”
The Wicked Wanderer is devoted to communing with your sinister side and it became active on Thursday, 19 January 2023. Season 9 has a unique battle pass that hosts 40 ranks worth of challenges and rewards, including Hilts, Crests, and Legendary Gems, among others.
Players can access the new Below the Sands battle pass to level up. However, there are also 2 premium versions of the battle pass:

| The Empowered Battle Pass | It includes all rank rewards from the free standard Battle Pass. However, it also unlocks an Empowered track that provides additional rewards at every rank. Players on this track receive seasonal cosmetics. |
| The Collector’s Empowered Battle Pass | This battle pass gives you access to all rank rewards and cosmetics from the free and the Empowered battle passes. However, you will receive additional seasonal cosmetics and a 10-rank boost. |
It is essential to note that players do not have to purchase the premium versions of the battle pass.
But if you are interested in acquiring the seasonal cosmetics, you either have to purchase the Empowered Battle Pass or the Collector’s Empowered battle pass. This is because you cannot acquire the cosmetics otherwise.
Wicked Wanderer cosmetic set
Players who have purchased the Empowered Battle Pass or the Collectors battle pass will receive the first piece of the Wicked Wanderer cosmetic set at tier 1. Although the final piece can only be procured once you have reached the final tier of the battle pass.
The cosmetic set does not provide your character with unique bonuses, it only alters the way your character appears. Moreover, the cosmetic set changes for every character class. This means that the cosmetic set will look different for a Demon Hunter and a Monk.
When does season 9 conclude?
Season 9 will conclude on Thursday, 16 February 2023, at which point the battle pass will be removed from the game.
All uncollected items will be lost when the battle pass ends. It is thus vital that you complete the battle past tiers and objectives to receive the rewards it has to offer.
The Wicked Wanderer cosmetic set is also removed from Diablo Immortal once the season concludes.
Empowered Battle Pass and The Collectors Battle Pass players should thus ensure that they have collected their cosmetics and rewards before the season concludes.
Battle Pass rewards
The Battle Pass offers players rich rewards for reaching specific tiers. All players will receive the items in the free battle pass, but players who have purchased 1 of the 2 premium routes receive additional items.
You can expect to receive the following items from season 9’s battle pass:

| Premium Currency | You can use this currency to purchase cosmetics from the in-game shop. |
| Season boosts | It accelerates your progression for the duration of the season. For instance, a season boost may increase the number of experience points that you earn to make levelling multiple characters during a season faster.
Since this item affects gameplay, it forms part of the free battle pass which means that all players can get it. |
| Tiers | Players can purchase tiers to increase the rank in their battle pass. It is not mandatory to purchase tiers, but it is recommended that you earn your battle pass tiers by completing objectives. |
