Although Flickerstep is a powerful item that all classes can equip in Diablo 4, most players prefer not to use it as there are more powerful items available.
Diablo 4 is the fourth main installment of the Diablo series and similarly to its predecessors, this version invites players to use a character’s skills to complete quests through combat.
You have to complete new quests, destroy new enemies and get new gear to enhance your character’s capabilities.
Blizzard, the game’s developer, recently launched season 2 of Diablo 4 for players to enjoy. Not only did this season introduce a new storyline, but it also added new endgame bosses and items for you to acquire.
One of these new items is the unique boots, Flickerstep. Some items in Diablo 4 can only be equipped by a specific class, however, the Flickerstep boots can be equipped by any class, which makes it quite valuable in conjunction with its affixes.
That being said, obtaining the Flickerstep boots can be challenging, but luckily, there are 3 ways that you can acquire the boots.
If you are playing on World Tier 3 or higher, you could earn the boots by defeating enemies in events like Nightmare Dungeons, Gathering Legions and World Bosses.
Additionally, you can open chests or destroy objectives for a chance to earn the Flickerstep boots. Players also get a chance to earn the boots by defeating the King of Maggots, Duriel.
It is worth noting that the Flickerstep boots are a random drop, which means that there is no guarantee that you will earn the boots by completing these activities.
Similarly to other items in Diablo 4, the Flickerstep boots have several affixes that you can enjoy once you have equipped them. The following table outlines the Flickerstep’s affixes:
|Equipment Affix||Attacks deduce Evade’s Cooldown by 0.8 seconds|
|Affix 1||All Stats are increased by between 8 and 14 points|
|Affix 2||Movement Speed is increased by between 7.5 percent and 12.5 percent|
|Affix 3||Ultimate Skill Damage is increased by between 22.5 percent and 37.5 percent|
|Affix 4||Players will receive between 5 percent and 10 percent damage reduction from close opponents|
Players should remember that when they equip the Flickerstep boots, every enemy that they Evade through reduces your active Ultimate Cooldown by between 2 and 4 seconds, up to 10 seconds.
Farming the Flickerstep Boots
Players can increase their chances of procuring the Flickerstep Boots by farming Nightmare Dungeons on World Tier 3 and higher.
Unfortunately, this means that you have to speed-run through the Nightmare Dungeons one after the other to earn the boots.
Keep in mind that you may not get the best affixes on the Flickerstep Boots by farming on World Tier 3. If you want better affixes on the boots, we recommend that you complete the activities on World Tier 4.
That means that the enemies that you have to defeat will become more powerful, so players must prepare accordingly before starting their Flickerstep farm.
The King of Maggots
As previously explained, one of the ways that you can acquire the Flickerstep boots is by defeating the King of Maggots, which is also known as Duriel.
Not only is this considered one of the toughest bosses in Diablo 4, but this is the only boss that can drop Uber Uniques. Players can find the boss in the Gaping Crevasse, which is a level 100 dungeon.
However, before traveling to the dungeon, we recommend that you procure 2 Mucus-Slick Edges and 2 Shards of Agony, as these materials are required to summon the boss.
Once you have these items, you can travel to Gaping Crevasse, which is located in southern Kehjistan.
If you die during the fight, you need to procure the materials again before you can summon the boss.
Should you use Flickerstep?
Although Flickerstep provides your character with powerful statistics and effects, most classes prefer not to use it.
This is because there are other Unique and Uber Unique items that can provide your character with more powerful effects.
However, we recommend that you acquire Flickerstep and experiment with it before you decide whether you want to use it on your character or not.
That being said, some class-specific items may be more useful for your character than an item which can be equipped by all classes.
