Why were Forsaken Ciphers introduced?
The latest currency, Forsaken Ciphers were introduced with Bungie’s Thirtieth Anniversary event. It is believed that when the event started, Bungie, the game’s developer, made the Forsaken campaign free for all players.
Even though this was great news, it was, however, unfair for the players who bought the Forsaken expansion when it was released. To make up for the unfairness, the developer decided to introduce a new currency called, Forsaken Ciphers, to please players who bought the campaign.

As mentioned above, many players were upset that the developer decided to make the Forsaken expansion free for all players. This is because they had already purchased the expansion, while others obtained it for free.
Bungie then offered players 3 free Forsaken Ciphers each. This choice seemed perfect, as the only way you could have obtained the Forsaken Ciphers before, was by purchasing the Forsaken Pack. Alternatively, you could have purchased the Forsaken campaign to obtain it.
Not only did the Forsaken Pack contain the Forsaken Ciphers, with this feature, you could also access new gear and an exclusive raid. However, the gear and the exclusive raid is now available to everyone.
You should remember that you will only have access to the Forsaken campaign until 22 February 2022. This is because Bungie will introduce a new campaign and will send the Forsaken to the content vault.
How to obtain the free Forsaken Ciphers
It is clear that players can receive 3 free Forsaken Ciphers. However, you have to follow specific steps in order to obtain them. Firstly, you have to visit the Monument to Lost Lights, where you will find a kiosk. It is located in the Tower right by the Vault terminals.
When you arrive, you have to open the Monument before searching for a section called the “Forsaken Exotics.” You may notice an entry which did not exist in the past, and it is now known as Forsaken Ciphers. You will then be able to collect your free Forsaken Ciphers and unlock anything in the Forsaken category at the kiosk.
Forsaken Cipher uses
It is important to note that you can use your Forsaken Ciphers to purchase exotic weapons, which were released with the Forsaken Expansion. To purchase a weapon, you have to head to the Exotic Archive. It is recommended that you carefully select which weapon you want to purchase.
Alternatively, you can trade your Forsaken Ciphers in to receive 3 Ascendant Shards. However, you can also use the Ciphers to obtain exotic raid weapons. That being said, these weapons still require the Spoils of Conquest.
Even if you do not want or need one of the above-mentioned items, it is recommended that you use your Ciphers on something. This is because you will not be able to use the Ciphers once the new campaign has been released.
New campaign
As mentioned above, Bungie is planning to release a new campaign called, The Witch Queen, on 22 February 2022. It is important to note that there will be 4 seasons to accompany the new campaign. This campaign takes place in Savathun’s Throne World, which can be seen as her own private universe in which she reigns supreme.
The Throne World will feature 3 different zones, this includes a crashed pyramid ship in a swamp, a giant castle and a bubble, which is a combination of the 2 zones. In addition to the new zones, you will find a new Darkness subclass.
Moreover, you will also be able to collect a new weapon archetype called the Glaive. It is part melee, and part ranged, which is able to generate a shield.
