Can Hisuian Zoroark breed in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet?

To celebrate Pokémon Day in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, you can collect the special Pokémon called Hisuian Zoroark, which can be bred to create Hisuian Zorua.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are the first instalments in the ninth generation of the Pokémon  video game series. Unlike its predecessors, Scarlet and Violet are set in the open world, Paldea.

The games introduce 103 new Pokémons for you to collect, one of which is Hisuian Zoroark. However, countless players were curious to know if this Pokémon can breed.

Breeding mechanics in Scarlet and Violet

In the previous Pokémon instalments, players had to leave 2 Pokémons in a daycare to breed them. However, in Scarlet and Violet, you have to set up a picnic with 2 compatible Pokémons of opposite genders in the party.

If you leave the Pokémon alone for a few minutes, an egg will appear in the basket next to the picnic table.

To determine if 2 Pokémons are compatible, you have to check the egg group they belong to. While 2 Pokémon of the same species can produce an egg, so can Pokémon from the same egg group.

Hisuian Zoroark is a Dark Tera Pokémon who knows the Happy Hour move and sports the Charismatic mark.

Unfortunately, this Pokémon cannot just be caught in the wild and with Pokémon Home still unavailable, there is no other way to collect this Pokémon.

The Pokémon can only be collected by trainers who pre-order the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet downloadable content (DLC) called The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. However, you have to purchase the DLC before 31 October 2023.

After purchasing the DLC, you will find a serial number on your receipt, which can be used to unlock Hisuian Zoroark.

Since Hisuian Zoroark is a special Pokémon, many players want to know if it can breed. In order to get this Pokémon’s pre-evolution, Hisuian Zorua, you have to breed Zoroark with a Ditto

. So to answer the question, yes, Hisuian Zoroark can breed to produce Hisuian Zorua.

However, if you breed your Zoroark with a Ditto normally, you will get a standard Zorua. In order to get a Hisuian Zora, you have to ensure that your Zoroark is holding an Everstone so that you can  breed it with Ditto.

When you have the egg, you have to run around the world for a while to hatch your Hisuian Zorua.

Where to find Ditto

If you are interested in breeding Hisuian Zoroark, you have to acquire a Ditto. Dittos are found in West Province’s Area 2 and Area 3. It is noteworthy, though, that Dittos disguise themselves as other Pokémon.

This means that you will not find a Ditto by just looking out for a pink blob in the open world. To catch a Ditto, you have to start a battle with a wild Pokémon. If the enemy is a Ditto, it will transform as soon as the battle starts.

Alternatively, you can press the ”ZL’’ button and use the right stick to lock onto a Pokémon in the wild. This will show you the names of a Pokémon before you encounter it.

The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet’s DLC, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, allows you to continue your adventure throughout the Paldea region.

Gamers are expected to learn more about the secrets of Area Zero where Paradox Pokémon reside in this DLC.

The DLC is split into 2 parts, namely, The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk. In the Teal Mask, you will go on a school trip to celebrate a festival.

The Indigo Disk, on the other hand, allows you to assume the role of an exchange student at Blueberry Academy.

Although the stories are connected, they will be released separately later in 2023.

The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero’s price

It is noteworthy that you cannot play The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero if you do not own Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.

Although the DLC is only launching later in 2023, you can pre-order The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero on the official Nintendo E-shop for $34.99.

Once you have pre-ordered the DLC, you will be able to claim your Hisuian Zoroark and use it to create Hisuian Zorua. Keep in mind that you have to enter the code on your receipt in order to unlock the special Pokémon as it will not unlock automatically.
